Tell Better Stories!

Currently reading Seth Godin’s, “All Marketers tell Stories”, and barely into the first chapter, I was upset. Why? Because I’ve started to think about the stories I’ve told myself, most of which are lies. This country would be jack shit without its people, yet we tell ourselves these stories (lies) about who is truly holding us back.

Everything happens for a reason and what you do today may close or open opportunities for not only yourself but for others. We can’t go back to the past and change anything about it. We can only study the past and use that history to drive change, not to validate the present. 

Let’s go straight to the big topic. Slavery across the Americas. America, the America that we live in with all its flaws and freedoms, would not exist without slavery, period. That is a fact. It was shitty, it happened. America could be great without it. Fact, unchangeable, horrible, and opportunity creating facts that caused generational wealth for whites and poverty for blacks, also mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical deficits for blacks. So what should we do?

This time and resources should be spent on helping mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical well being for black people. White people should all pay a black tax. America should pay the black tax.
