Discovering Partnership

We always hear that behind every successful man is a strong woman, but we never hear about the amazing men who support their successful women.

Growing up I was conditioned to believe that “happily ever after” was a man being the one in charge or a strong independent woman without a man. This mindset made it difficult to fully accept being in a relationship or even being married. The constant fear that my male partner would minimize my work or trump me somehow. Now looking back, I see how irrational this frame of thought was, but it was what I was taught to believe.

I had to unlearn the negatives and learn the positive ways to build a true partnership where I am there for my husband and he is there for me. We don’t have to dim our light for the other to shine, we shine brighter together. I want to show men and women that you can support your partner and there is enough space for both people to shine.

Do you or did you ever feel this way before?
