Meet Georgie

Short Version

I have been an outspoken, problem-solving, thinker, doer since birth. Where the only negative feedback has been “she talks too much”. Now I use that passion for learning, systems, and speaking to change lives.

Long Version

Georgie-Ann Getton set the intention years ago to stop dreaming of ways to achieve success and to actually put her thoughts into action. Through becoming a founder of 8 startups, producing over 200 in person and virtual events, presenting at more than twenty events as a speaker, being featured in over 40 media outlets, and receiving 6 awards, she has gained expertise about the process of turning a dreamer into a doer. With the mission to help fellow “doers”, Georgie became an execution strategist, and now works with companies and individuals for the creation and implementation of plans, systems, and processes to increase efficiency.

With her career as a full time entrepreneur beginning officially in 2014, Georgie became the Founder and Director at Choose Yourself Facebook Group where she developed a community management system that was used by individuals to start over 25 micro-groups around the world in countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, and Thailand. In the following year, she became the CEO and Founder at Illicit Mind where she secured partnerships with Capital One, NY Tech Meetup, WeWork, Digital Ocean, and various NYC startups to produce over 60 events in 3 years.  She went on to earn 4th place in the CUNY Startups Accelerator Pitch Competition, Top 8 at Echoing Green X Barclay’s future of work competition, and Top 25 at eBay’s Startup Cup NY 2018.

As CEO of GSD Solutions, Georgie felt a burning desire to share the knowledge  and lessons she has accumulated through the years.  In 2019, she released her first book titled “The Art of Getting Sh*t Done,” an entrepreneurial development guide and memoir. Following the success of her first book, she created the “Doing The Most: The Misadventures of Entrepreneurship Podcast” where Georgie shares the misadventures and stories of persistent entrepreneurs and doers.

Georgie has years of leadership experience. She served as President of Carribbeans in Tech & Entrepreneurship, has received the 30 under 30 Changemakers Award, participated in StartingBloc as a 2016 New York Social Innovation Fellow , and most recently was aTEDxSpeaker at TEDxLongIslandCity.  Georgie’s speaking style is often described as concise, informative, and motivational.

As a proud Jamaican immigrant, Georgie created the non profit organization Caribbeans in Tech & Entrepreneurship ( CITE) and  developed the award-winning Annual Immigration Heritage Month Hackathon for the nationally recognized nonprofit FWD.us. She continues to help underestimated communities find their footing in the world of technology and business to this day through mentorship and speaking opportunities including her role as Founder & Executive Director at The Black Podcasting Awards.

In her personal life, Georgie is a mom of two, community builder, avid reader, and pizza lover. She enjoys learning, as well as teaching new and creative ways to find solutions to problems.
