Exactly 5 years ago today on November 5th, 2016 my past startup Illicit Mind hosted our very first Get Shit Done Summit. This idea came to me while working part-time at Startup Institute as their events coordinator. One of my coworkers kept saying “Georgie Ann Gets Shit Done”. My whole life people have made a pun out of my last name Getton so it wasn’t anything new. But for some reason, it really stuck with me this time. Every time he said it I thought about three things.
- I truly get shit done, by any means possible I show up and work through problems and create solutions both traditional and completely outside of the box
- There were so many people I knew who got shit done but are never recognized.
- How can I help other people get shit done? Were my mindset and skillset something I could package and teach to others so they could get shit done in their lives?
Five years later all three of these things have come full circle. I still create solutions now under my business GSD Solutions which stands for Get Shit Done Solutions but if the IRS asks its Getton Strategic Development Solutions that was born out of the same ideas and concepts of that summit.
So much has happened in these years both personally and professionally. The growth, the pain, the adventures, and misadventures.
The Get Shit Done Summit ( GSD Summit ) was the first of her name, but she birthed GSD Solutions, GSD University, and GSD with Georgie
