The Enemy Within

I have started to fight the nights. The day winds down, work ends, kids go to bed and it’s just me. Awake with my thoughts, my ideas, my fears, my inspirations. Me, all alone with a whole universe unleashing inside my head.

Should I exercise? Should I sleep? Should I order food? Watch a movie, write, listen to music, sing or dance? When this would happen it felt like the whole inside of my brain literally exploded and had no idea what to do or not to do.

Then one day I figured it out.

Just do the next best thing. The next thing that feels good. The next thing that my mind, my body, and soul can agree on.

Somedays that is rest, other days it was read a 50 page research paper, heck a few times it was get up and dance.

I am not the first and nor will I be the last person who finds themselves in a huge life change that just shakes up your entire system.

When you enter a new season, you have to give yourself grace, patience, and time to find a new rhythm.

Until that happens, be gentle with yourself and just do the next best thing.
