How a 13 Year Old Website Inspired Me

This is a screenshot from one of my very first websites I ever created. The Team Pathmark aka T.P.M Website.

Remember in the early 2000’s when everyone was creating teams and groups? Well my middle school best friends and I created Team Pathmark. There’s a long story that I currently don’t remember all the details for, about how and why we decided to name our group after a Supermarket chain but that’s for another time.

The key thing to know is that we were team Pathmark. Each of us were branded with nicknames because everyone knows your team isn’t legit until everyone gets a code name. To stay on brand all our names were related to something that was sold at Pathmark supermarkets.

As we transitioned into high school, being in the top 8 on each other’s Myspace page wasn’t enough. We had to make a statement, we had to stand out! To boost our brand recognition and as the tech nerd in the group, I went ahead and made us a simple Weebly website.

Everyone had their title, photo, and bio.

My bio read: Georgie-Ann Getton is 13 years old. She’s was born in Jamaica but lves in the BX, NY. Her hobby ia Karate. She goes to Dewitt Clinton High School. Fa-Brezzee is CEO and Official planner of T.P.M

This bio is almost 13 years old but not much has changed about me as a person

  1. I still have terrible grammar and make a bunch of spelling mistakes
  2. I still make sure branding is always on point
  3. I am still a CEO
  4. I am still planning events

In these 13 years my grammar hasn’t improved much but my event planning skills have! I have planned and produced over 100 events, everything from small meetups to large scale conferences. From an early age I knew events were the best way to engage with people, to build relationships, and create meaningful experiences.

In 2017 I started working Remote full-time while being a stay at home mom and started to focus on doing virtual events. I learned all about the planning, producing, and profiting from virtual events.

In 2020 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic all in-person events came to a halt. Virtual events have become the main way for people to continue connecting, learning, and building relationships.

Coming across this 13 year old website reminded me that at my core I am an expert at events. It has inspired me to launch my new course all about virtual event experiences.

The virtual event space is one of the fastest growing industries and understanding the inner workings of a high quality virtual event experience will be essential for every business.

If you produce events to engage with clients, gain business leads, interact with employees, connect with family or anything in that spectrum learning my 3 part framework , Plan, Produce, Profit for high quality virtual experiences, is a must!

Join me this Fall for my 5 Strategies to Plan, Produce, and Profit with Virtual Event Experiences Masterclass.
