Selfish Confessions

Everyone thinks that I am a selfless person. I always share opportunities, pass on the torch, and help others.

It seems like the components of a selfless person, right?

Wrong.

I do those things to feed a selfish need. I educate others so they don’t have to constantly ask me to do things and that they can figure it out on their own. I pass on job opportunities so that my colleagues can make more money and have long term financial stability where they never need to ask me for money.

My selfish wish is to live in a diverse community filled with wealthy people from all backgrounds where it’s impossible to count the number of black folks on two hands. Where my family and friends don’t have to work twice as hard for half of what “THEY” have. For a society where race and gender have no negative impact on the opportunities and access people have.

This isn’t my dream. This is my plan and I put it into action daily!
